General to Shirataki Noodles
Shirataki in Japanese means "white waterfall" and can also be found
in Chinese cuisine. Visually, they resemble the glass noodles, are
somewhat thicker. In consistency, they are gel-like, where probably comes
the name.
Especially in the low carb cuisine they are often use shirataki noodles as a substitute for
classic (Italian) pasta, because they have a very low carbohydrate value.
They consist of water and fiber-rich meal the konjac root, which is why they
are also called konjac noodles. They are gluten-free and therefore
suitable for many allergy sufferers.
Durable they are about 1 year at a relatively cool storage.

Shirataki Noodles Preparation
This is not rocket science, although one must consider trifles. Some negative
vote in various forums is due to the mishandling ago.
The noodles are delivered lying in water and I shall keep it in the refrigerator.
When unpacking, I notice the fish-odor only slightly or when I smell directly
to the pasta. However, the disappears when you wash the noodles with warm
water. Thereafter, the pre-cooked Shirataki are simply about 5 to 10 minutes
cooked (depending on thickness) into boiling water and served the desired sauce
along with the pasta. Or you give the pasta immediately after cooking in the
pan with the sauce.
Some enter directly into the sauce, what works in theory, since they do
relatively quickly, but the brief cooking in water can disappear entirely the
fishy smell, so I will not renounce this intermediate step.
The noodles themselves are tasteless. Nevertheless, they take the taste of this
dishe sauce on very well. For me the best thing about pasta dishes is anyway
the sauce, which is why Shirataki are a perfect low carb alternative.
From the consistency they are somewhat unusual beginning. Dente law, but under
no circumstances glibber as write many. This happens maybe when you cook too
long or use other varieties. Mine were very pleasant.
Maybe it feels at the beginning of something like rubber. But you should try
simply times when one is interested in a pasta alternative.
Shirataki Noodles Recipes
For me the best thing about pasta dishes is usually the sauce: Bolognese,
arrabiata, Spinach and Gorgonzola.... I could go on forever. Sure, the noodles
themselves have also a delicious taste (if they are good), but it I could do
without. Sauces other hand.... Never! That's why I like to make my noodles and
other pasta primavera, but now it should be the Shirataki.
